Is faith without rational grounds of any worth?
An answer to a question about the relation between faith and argument.
The question
Is the faith of someone who believes without any rational grounds religiously valid?
The answer
Hasan Hasanzadeh AmoliIn the Islamic tradition faith is not mere assent without support. Muslim theologians have generally held that imitative faith, though accepted, stands below faith grounded in knowledge.
This emphasis on reason does not mean that every believer must be a philosopher; it means that faith must not stand in open conflict with reason.
