Ayatollah Mohammad Soroush Mahallati is a teacher of advanced (kharij) jurisprudence and its principles at the Qom Seminary and a student of Grand Ayatollah Shobeiri Zanjani. A teacher and researcher of the Qom Seminary, he teaches and writes on jurisprudence, Islamic political thought, the history of Shi'ism and the social and ethical teachings of Islam, and is regarded as a leading researcher in political jurisprudence, the relationship between religion and the state, freedom and public rights in Islamic thought.
